On first sight this seems to be a regular cluster of stars. Well, a quite large one.
With a more closeup look most dots do no longer look like stars. Most of them are indeed distant galaxies.
This is an image of the Coma Cluster, or Abell 1656, in constellation Coma Berenices. It contains more than 1000 identified galaxies.
