ASI2600MM, 360mm f/2.8, 12.9h (RGB 3x29m, Lum 42m, Ha 3.4h, S2 3.75h, O3 3.6h)
Lower's Nebula in the area of Orion's outstretched arm was discovered in 1939 by Harold Lowers and his son Charles. The more prominent targets in its vicinity like the Horsehead Nebula or the Great Orion Nebula probably always pulled attraction.
The radiation of the massive bright star HD41997 does not only exite the extended region of H-Alpha, but also a somewhat separated cloud of Oxygen in its core.
As the image was captured using a telescope with a focal length of only 360mm, the complete field looks like this:
Several other objects can be spotted, like some smaller emission nebulae or a dark nebula.
