Orion molecular cloud complex

12/22
ASI2600MC Pro, Micro Nikkor 55/2.8, 129x120s, 4,3h

The whole constellation Orion is an active starforming region and interspersed with various dark, reflection and emission nebulae.

To capture the complete region a comparable low focal length is required. With a closer look you may discover the Orion Nebula M42 on the right.

While I still used a one shot astronomy camera (ASI2600MC Pro) for this image, it was attached to a regular photo lens. The Micro Nikkor 55/2.8 AIS is intended for macro use and more than 40 years old. But, at least my lens, produces nearly point stars up to the corners on an APS-C sensor. For proper tracking I also used my old Astro 5 mount.
