The Trifid Nebula is a rare combination of emission, reflection and dark nebulae and yet another bright starforming region. The apparent division into three sections by the dark nebula is the origin of its name, which means "three-lobe".

Right next to M20 we find the Lagoon Nebula M8 and the open cluster M21. With a lower focal length of 360mm this may look like this:

Please note that in this image M21 is located on the left below the Trifid Nebula. The object on the far right inside the starcloud is globular cluster NGC6544.
